CALVERTON, N.Y. (Oct. 10, 2008) – On
Thursday October 10, 2008, Mod Series Scene website and forum was officially
placed into Howie Hodge's hands as owner. Howie was a long time friend to Lou
and has also been NASCAR's photographer of the popular Whelen Modified Tour
among other NASCAR touring divisions.
At this time, there will be no changes made to the website or forum, but as soon
as the racing season is over, decisions will be made and all those involved and
members will be immediately notified of our decisions.
We do apologize for any issues that have occurred during the owner/server change
and we are trying to fix some of these issues as we can and some will not be
able to be fixed. During the move, many links have changed and have to be
restored for some items to be used or viewed and this takes time to go though
every link/reference on the site. Again, we are sorry for the inconvience and
will do our best to keep everything going for our members to the best of our
ability.
Blewett Reaches Victory Lane at Riverhead
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (Aug. 2, 2008) – Jimmy Blewett registered his third career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory Saturday night when he took the checkered flag in the Miller Lite 140 at Riverhead Raceway.
Hossfeld battled Ted Christopher for a number of laps down the stretch, making the pass for the lead in Turns 1 and 2, but falling back to second in Turns 3 and 4. On the final lap, he made a move entering Turn 3 on Christopher and won the drag race out of Turn 4 to the finish by .001 seconds.
“I knew I had to be patient,” Hossfeld said. “With Teddy (Christopher), you’re racing one of the best racers here. I would have been a happy either way with the finish, but I was glad to come home first. I’m just so thrilled.”
Hirschman Earns First NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Victory at Spencer
WILLIAMSON, N.Y. (July 12, 2008) – Matt Hirschman reached Victory Lane for the first time in his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career Saturday night at Spencer Speedway when he led 79 laps and won the Mason Farms 100.
Hirschman, who won the second of two 25-lap heat races earlier in the evening, led four times throughout the 100-lap main and was the car to beat all night. After Mike Stefanik had moved through the field and took the lead on lap 89, the veteran was caught up in an accident coming out of Turn 3 and Hirschman took back a lead that he would never relinquish.
Hirschman’s first victory came in his 45th career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour start.
Hossfeld Edges Christopher in Photo Finish at New Hampshire
LOUDON, N.H. (June 28, 2008) – Chuck Hossfeld led just one lap in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but it was the one that counted the most as he took the checkered flag in a photo finish in the New England 100.
THOMPSON, Conn. (June 19, 2008) – Ronnie Silk reached Victory Lane for the second time in his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career when he took the checkered flag in the New England Dodge Dealers 75 Thursday night at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway.
In a race that counted only green flag laps, Silk took the lead from Ted Christopher on lap 53 and never relinquished it en route to his first win of the season. His previous victory also came at Thompson on Sept. 23, 2007.
“We had a really good car and it never really changed much all night,” Silk said. “We kind of took it easy in the beginning and saved as much as we could, and by the end we were right about where we wanted to be.”
Hossfeld Returns the ‘Mystic Missile’ to Victory Lane at Stafford
STAFFORD, Conn. (May 23, 2008) – Chuck Hossfeld piloted the No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge to Victory Lane in the third NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event of the season Friday night in the TSI Harley-Davidson 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway.
In a race that was delayed nearly two and a half hours, Hossfeld won for the first time since the 2004 season. Hossfeld also won the race Donny Lia did in the No. 4 last year en route to the championship.
The victory was the sixth of Hossfeld’s career. Each of his previous wins came in the No. 4 in his first stint with car owner Bob Garbarino, which ended after 2004. Hossfeld rejoined the team in the offseason after Lia left to run in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
STAFFORD, Conn. (April 27, 2008) – Ted Christopher captured the second event of the 2008 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season when he drove to victory Sunday in the Tech-Net Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Christopher moved to the front on lap 172 following the 10th caution of the day and never relinquished the lead.
“We worked on the motor program this winter,” Christopher said. “The motor is good. It’s got a lot of power. That thing comes off the bottom and never stops pulling.”
